NAME OF EXERCISE : MEASURING WITH MICROMETER TOOLS REQUIRED : micrometer MATERIALS REQUIRED : cotton waste, kerosene. Round stock. PROCEDURE        I.             Select a suitable range of micrometer .      II.        FIND OUT THE LEAST COUNT OF THE MICROMETER. 1.      To find out the pitch of the micrometer, note down the linear distance moved after one complete revolution of the thimble. 2.      Note down the total number of division on the thimble scale. 3.      Calculate the least count by the equation,    III.             CHECKING THE ZERO ERROR OF THE MICROMETER 1.      Bring the spindle tip on to the anvil of the screw gauge. 2.      When touching, note down ...

NAME OF EXPERIMENT :   MEASURING WITH BORE DIAL GAUGE TOOLS REQUIRED: Set gauge/screw gauge, bore dial gauge set, telescopic gauge/Vernier caliper. MATERIALS REQUIRED: cotton waste, kerosene. PROCEDURE 1.         Clean the cylinder bore to be measured. 2.        Measure the bore diameter with the help of telescopic gauge or Vernier caliper and note down the value. 3.        Make sure that, the reading shouldtake at the ridge of the cylinder bore. 4.        Fix the dial indicator into instrument. 5.        Adjust the revolution counter dial to zero by adjusting screw and lock the position. 6.        Select suitable size of anvil and washers ( the distance between the end of plunger and extreme end of fixed anvil should always just above the measured bore diameter). ...
